Villa Pandolfini was commissioned by Battista di Pandolfo Pandolfini and built in 1485 by the known architect Desiderio da Settignano. The Villa is nested on a 150 hectare estate surrounded by a private forest, vineyards and olive groves.
A beautiful loggia with frescoes designed by the architect Leon Battista Alberti is facing the breathtaking renaissance garden that ends with a rocaille garden decorated with rocks and shells. The garden is very private for outdoor dining, walking or reading.
This is the perfect place to explore Florence but in the same time enjoy the real Tuscan countryside, in this magnificent Villa that has accommodated guests such as Napoleon Bonaparte and King Charles VIII of France. The estate has a shared swimming pool sitting among olive trees. There are many restaurants, near the villa, such "La Delfina", "Sanesi", "Edy Più", "l'Officina del Gusto", where you can have a memorable experience, but also trattorias and pizzerias. Relax at the villa and enjoy its grounds, wine and forests, or discover the many local attractions such as horse riding, trekking, antique markets, Caruso's Villa and gardens, medieval villages and Etruscan tombs.
Accommodations are in the villa or one of the farmhouses. The available rooms and villas are chosen by us based on the group's size and composition, supplements paid etc. The culinary tour is crafted to experience the best that Tuscany has to offer and eat and enjoy your vacation like a local.
The Villa Pandolfini Estate is 12 kms from the Florence city centre. You can reach downtown Florence by train (15 min) or by bus and all local shops are within walking distance. The villa is also strategically located near all the major highways. In the morning you ca just walk down the "viale" and go to the local coffee shop for a cappuccino and buy the fresh bread feeling like a local! There are weekly open air small markets, Caruso Museum, the Etruscan Museum, Straw Museum and horse riding. During spring and summer months, the little villages and towns around the Tuscan region celebrate "sagre" and "feste del patrono" which give guests an opportunity to share this experience that is unique. We will happily give you advice on events taking place in the area. You are 20 min to Montecatini, famous for thermal spas fancy shops and cafes, 40 min to Pisa, Lucca or Siena 60 min to Bologna, Forte Dei Marmi, Volterra, San Gimignano.
